About "Morgans Rock"

The ecolodge is a 15-bungalow and 3 Ocean View Two Bedroom Villas with Pool hideaway on a mile-long picturesque sandy beach, frequented year-round by nesting sea turtles. Nearly half of the vast property is a government-designated reserve.

With endless activities, tours, plenty of safe space to explore, and astounding wildlife, organic farm and a world class cullinary experience, Morgan’s Rock offers the ultimate family vacation. Our restaurant features local food from our organic farm.

Fifteen exquisite bungalows and 3 Ocean View Two Bedroom Villas with Pool await, constructed of natural materials and tucked gracefully into the lush jungle. A king size bed and an exterior hanging day bed suspended by thick marine rope, reminds the casual luxury you will come to experience and setting an appropriately relaxed pace for duration of your stay.

Our mission is to provide guests with ultimate relaxation, peace of mind, and an authentic local experience. Equally important to us is the preservation of Nicaragua’s vital ecosystem and wildlife, as well as cultural preservation and community involvement.

Things to Do

Canopy Tour

Just 30 minutes down the road, near the entrance to San Juan del Sur, “Da’ Flying Frog” offers 1.5 miles of pure adrenaline with 17 platforms rendering spectacular views of the bay of San Juan del Sur. This experience is for those adrenaline-seeking, high-flying adventures!

Hiking Mombacho Crater + Colonial Granada

Spend the morning hiking Mombacho crater with its unique biodiversity and exquisite views. Learn about coffee production before heading for colonial Granada, the oldest city in Nicaragua, rich in history and culture. You’ll enjoy a delicious authentic lunch before taking a comprehensive tour of Granada’s well preserved colonial architecture. Finally, we’ll cap off this amazing day by boarding a boat and exploring Lake Nicaragua and its network of small islands.

Monkey Quest

Our quest takes us into the jungle in a 4×4 safari truck seeking the 3 species of monkeys found in the Nicaraguan forest: Howler monkeys which can be heard from a mile away long, the shy spider monkeys, and the mischievous white faced Capuchins.

Nicaragua is a surfer’s secret paradise! During your stay with us, you will have the opportunity to take a surfing lesson. as we happily loan boards and rashguards. We will be happy to arrange a beginner lesson at our own Ocotal beach and we are also conveniently located near Maderas, a world class beach for more experienced surfers.

Turtle Watching

Take this expedition to La Flor Nature Reserve (20 milesSouth of Morgan´s Rock) when massive numbers of turtle arrive every year. We´ll learn about the 5 different species of sea turtles that nest on this beach and their life cycles. With luck, we´ll see these amazing creatures laying eggs or their hatchlings as they take their first steps towards the open sea. This experience is seasonal.
